2020 - Current

Financial Counselor, Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital

Counsel patients and families on insurance benefits and eligibility, assisting patients in all financial aspects related to their care. Developed new processes and procedures for insurance eligibility and coverage verification. Reduced billing AR days to less than 30 for all accounts through policies developed and installed in coordination with hospital leadership.

2019 - 2020

Financial Counselor, CHI Memorial Metabolic and Bariatric Care

Streamlined and enhanced pre-surgical processes, significantly increasing surgical volume and reducing the number of insurance denials to less than 10% per month. Due to the im- pact of the increased efficiency in the process, our practice was approved to hire a second surgeon and second nurse practitioner within 6 months of my start date. Responsible for verifying coverage and specific requirements for all pre-operative bariatric surgery pa- tients, obtaining authorizations for all surgeries, and resolving billing issues/errors for both the practice and the facility.

2018 - 2019

Call Center Coordinator, University Eye Specialists

Manage call center/scheduling team and serve as liaison between clinical coordinators and the triage nurse. Create and maintain Call Center Training Manuel, FAQs, and other resources as necessary. Continuously seek improvement of key indicators related to scheduling efficiency and call center operations.

2016 -2018

Financial Counselor, University of Tennessee Medical Center

Counseled patients on insurance benefits and eligibility, and assisted patients in all finan- cial aspects as pertaining to their healthcare costs. Responsible for $1.4 million dollars in point-of-service collections in 2017. Obtained single case agreements between the hospi- tal and out of network or limited benefit insurance plans.

2014 - 2016

Patient Access Associate, Blount Memorial Hospital

Complete all pre-admission and discharge processes. Responsible for order management functions for the clinic. Oversee and record daily revenues for the clinic.

2010 - 2014

Case Manager / Sr. Program Counselor, Covenant Health - Peninsula Hospital

Promoted in-house based on recommendation of my peers and leadership team. Created and developed treatment plans for a team of 10-15 patients. Led daily groups in topics including coping mechanisms, preventing relapse, and emotional health.
