About Me
Eric Walczyk is a junior at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he is majoring political science with a concentration in American politics and a minor in economics. He has returned to complete his degree, having spent the last ten years working in the healthcare field. Having experienced the inner workings of the American healthcare system, he aims to make a difference by using that experience help craft healthcare policy and legislation.
His experience ranges from his current position as a Financial Counselor where he has the pleasure of meeting directly with patients to educate and advise them as they navigate their personal health care journeys, a position he has held at multiple major healthcare systems in Tennessee, to working directly with patients suffering from mental illness as a Sr. Program Counselor and PRN Case Manager at Knoxville's leading psychiatric hospital.
Eric's goal is to fundamentally change the way in which people approach healthcare and their healthcare decisions. Currently working on research that examines the effect that a transition to a single-payer system would have on middle-class incomes, he ultimately seeks to help make healthcare more affordable, more accessible, and work towards developing a system that is easier for Americans to both understand and navigate.
